How your donation helps

  • We are currently in the process of restoring the historic 1881 Como Roundhouse and the depot and hotel. With your help, we can restore these buildings to their former glory for generations to come. To learn more about the roundhouse and it’s history, click here.

  • Steam locomotives require a lot of work! We’re currently rebuilding our loved locomotive #4 “Klondike Kate” to bring her up to tip top shape so she can operate in Como once again with your help. To learn more about the locomotive, click here.

  • Como was the center of the Denver, South Park & Pacific and later the Colorado and Southern’s narrow gauge network that expanded all the way west to Gunnison and north to Breckenridge and Leadville. We are currently restoring the Gunnison mainline through Como so that we can bring the railroad heritage of the area to life with your help.

  • The society is in possession of a number of Colorado & Southern boxcars and other rolling stock. With your help, we can continue the restoration process of these historic cars to they can once again ride the rails.
