Final Open House/Campus Work Day & Volunteer Appreciation - September 28th

What a great “leafy” open house, very productive work day paired with our end of season Oktoberfest/Volunteer Appreciation Day!

 Host Lynda Clay & Merchandise Manager Lauren Revis-Hebert were very busy with visitors!

Hosts Jon Dierksheide, Michael Bottlemy & Scott Hebert provided visitor rides on the handcar & speeder.

Host Deb Stremke provided visitors tours of the Roundhouse.

The Engine Crew - Bob Petersen, Mike Sharp & Tim Clay were setting driver wheel alignment with Chuck Brantigan overseeing. Russ Fisher (Wheel Engineer from Durango & Silverton Contract Shop) was overseeing alignment of drivers to pistons with Tim Clay & Bob Revis assisting.

Russ Fisher is very through on his calculations checking the wheel assembly of the smoke box/checking rod bearings with Tim Clay & Bob Revis observing.     

The Track Crew worked on the maintenance car shed stub track - Jim Scoville, Paul Blanchard, Scott Barton, Road Master Alex Hois along with new volunteers Jonah Gambone & Tony Gambone. Road Master Alex Hois cutting the last section of rail with Paul Blanchard & Jonah Gambone taking a photo. They almost completed stub track!

Dallas Meads, Paul Greguoli & Clark Stremke continued contracting the floor of the maintenance shed.

Norm Acker continued lettering C&S #8311 & David Winner began cooking brats for Oktoberfest after preparing electrical equipment.

After a long productive open house/work day with visitors, construction & winterizing - the celebration of Oktoberfest/Volunteer Appreciation Day began! Tony & Jonah Gambone, Road Master Alex Hois, Scott & Lauren Hebert, Tim Clay, Clark Stremke, David Winner, Bob Petersen, Jon Dierksheide, Bob Schoppe, Norm Acker, Jim Scoville & Paul Greguoli pictured.

Bob Petersen led us in Ein Prost & German beer hall songs as we celebrated with good Oktoberfest food! Herr Alex brought soft pretzels, German beer & cucumber salad served with brats/potato salad. Tom Lawson thanked all the volunteers & SPRS President Bob Revis presented via Zoom “Volunteers of the Year Award” to Bark Kirk & Joey Knous. We also thanked & presented a remuneration gift to Leslie Cole/Chris Ruch (not presesnt) for preparing volunteer lunches all season. Thank you!

Merchandise Store Manager Lauren Revis–Hebert had a special drawing for volunteers to win official SPRS ball caps! Winners include Deb Stremke, Jonah & Tony Gambone, Paul Greguoli, John Dierksheide & Mike Bottlemy (not pictured).

Friday night Kathy & Chuck Brantigan hosted dinner around the pot belly in the Roundhouse (Bob Revis, Jeannie Lawson, Chuck & Kathy with Russ Fisher).
