Winter Workday - March 1st
A very productive volunteer work day Saturday March 1, 2025 as the locomotive crew continued their work. Jim Scoville, Tim Clay, Paul Marizza, Tina Bogani, Dan Silbaugh & Bob Peterson removed axel #3 shoes and shims, measured and removed to permanent replacement.
Tim Clay, Bob Peterson & Dan Silbough test fit the pilot truck trunnion for fitting on rebuilt pony wheel assembly to arrive.
Jim Scoville making a holder for miscellaneous taps in tool room.
Measured patch area inside boiler for Durango & Silverton contract crew to fabricate replacement patch. The crew discovered a Baldwin stamp from 1912 – 10 24 ¼ D91 on a shoe.
Good news, after further measurement the right crosshead guide will not require machining.
Dan Silbaugh “selfie” with Paul & Tina - love seeing our volunteers having fun!
Further good news for the future of Como - on Friday Kathy & Chuck Brantigan signed the sales agreements for the eventual transfer of the historic Como Roundhouse and adjacent pasture properties to ensure their long term viability into the non-profit South Park Rail Society! Thank you Kathy & Chuck! This is just part of the long journey of a realization of all of our dreams. Considerable work ahead to obtain additional funding from generous contributors, grant funding applications and future planning!
